Everyone loves a happy ending, and Guerra DeBerry Coody's Pilar Jimenez says a new effort
the San Antonio-based agency is promoting provides just that.
Developed by local agency Nnovative Marketing Solutions, "The Book of Free Holiday Charity
Challenge" launches an innovative, seasonal fundraising program on Oct. 31, which Jimenez
hopes will benefit local charities and nonprofit organizations in a big way.
This monetary support Jimenez references is fueled by sales of The Book of Free, a printed
booklet that costs $50 and contains 100 gift certificates worth up to $1,500 that are good for free
dining, free golf, free movie tickets, free sports tickets and much more. Each certificate is backed
by some of San Antonio's most well-known and reputable companies and can easily be
redeemed with no purchase required.
As part of the Holiday Charity Challenge, up to $25 from the sale of every Book of Free is
donated to local charities and nonprofit organizations in the San Antonio community.
"I know The Book of Free might sound too good to be true," says Bob Wills, founder of
Nnovative Marketing Solutions and CEO of the PM Group, a successful San Antonio-based
advertising agency. "But you just have to try it to believe it," he continues. "It is truly a win-winwin
situation because consumers get great deals, local merchants increase their business traffic
and most importantly, everyone contributes to making a positive difference in the lives of
children and families in San Antonio."
Jimenez says that while coupon books aren't a new idea, a marketing-based effort like The Book
of Free is unique because of the quality and array of merchants involved as well as the large
spectrum of nonprofit organizations slated to benefit from sales of the book.
"We're charged with creating awareness and getting the word out on this effort designed to
support local businesses do their part to support area nonprofit agencies during a time when
everyone could use a little extra help,"
Jimenez says.
He says monies raised will be distributed among such local charities as Wounded Warriors,
Animal Rescue, The San Antonio Food Bank, Haven for Hope, Morgan's Wonderland, Elf
Louise, Boys and Girls Clubs, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Transplants for Children, The San
Antonio Sports Foundation, Any Baby Can and many others.
During the month of October, the Book of Free is sold exclusively by participating charities.
Then, throughout November and December, consumers can purchase The Book of Free at any of
the 138 participating Valero Corner Stores or online at BOOKofFREE.com.
